Facilities
Cardiff Yacht Club is a traditional yacht club fully equipped to handle all the needs of recreational boat users that want to sail in the sheltered waters of Cardiff Bay or access the Bristol Channel via the 24\7 access to the sea.
The club is located in the most desirable part of Cardiff Bay, within walking distance of shops, restaurants and theatres. The view from the clubhouse bar is stunning and we have a panoramic view of the sailing within the bay and out over the sea to Somerset.
CYC is run completely by it's volunteer members and there are many dedicated individuals and teams that keep everything running smoothly.
Club House
The clubhouse is a purpose built building constructed for us in 2001 and has 2 bars, a large function room, training room, workshop, WiFi, kitchen and toilets with wet changing rooms with the warmest of showers. There is a covered elevated terrace and upstairs open patio and BBQ area. Also we have a further BBQ area on the ground floor where we hold our famous hog roasts. The kitchen serves freshly cooked hot food on Saturday between 10:00 am and 14:00 hrs and you will not find a better curry at any other yacht club. The car park is large enough to not worry about a space.
Boats
We have over 300 boats in the club that are located on either trot moorings or floating pontoons. These boats are secure in the sheltered bay and because the water is fresh water, it is normal for boats to remain in the water all year. We have an enthusiastic group of volunteers who are at the club most days maintaining and expanding the clubs moorings and facilities. There is a drinking water supply to the pontoons.
Security
Security at CYC is taken very seriously with many measures to keep the area safe. The area is fenced off from the surrounding area and entry to the main car park (both in and out) is via key fob operated security gates. The area beyond the car park is protected by a high fence and is also locked at all times and is key fob operated . The club is active with helpful members regularly in attendance on the club premises.
Boat yard
We have a fully equipped boat yard with water and mains, pressure washers, boat supports and has its own deep water slipway with 2 mobile boat hoists. New in 2015 is a HIAB 1 tonne crane mounted beside the deep water jetty . The boat yard has a super committed team of volunteers who dedicate themselves to making sure the boat yard is well managed and operated safely.
Safety
We have two dinghy safety boats (RIBs) and 2 dinghy slipways. Dinghies are stored on either hard standing areas close to the jetties or within a special inner secure area. Our training school offers dinghy courses for adults and children, powerboat courses, and navigation theory courses.
