Boxing Day + 1 Race For The Nick Niklasson Cup (CANCELLED)
11am on December 27th 2023
Hi all, afraid to say the BD+1 will be cancelled tomorrow. The bar will be open should anyone wish to join us and from 12.00 Carole will be putting on chips and whatever else she has in the freezer. I hope you have all had a great Christmas.

Sailing Instructions
General | The event is open to all yachts that qualify for the Byron handicapping system, any yachts wishing to enter that does not have a Byron base number will be allocated a handicap number by the race committee. The race itself will be held within Cardiff Bay. |
Rules | The racing rules will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). Unless changed by these sailing instructions. |
Handicaps | Handicaps will be based on the Byron System base numbers. If your handicap is not listed a handicap will be allocated. Handicap figures for all competing yachts must be provided to Gary Brooks, see poster. |
Course | This will be decided on the day around laid marks and called over VHF Channel M or 37 at approximately 10:40hrs. The number of laps will be monitored by the race officer. Race time will be approximately 90 minutes |
Starting Procedure | |
The start is planned for 11:00hr | |
There will be a 5 minute warning, 4 minute warning before the start. This will be announced via VHF. | |
Recalls | If a yacht is over the line at the start, the yacht will be identified and called on VHF. |
Start and finish Line | This will be identified within the course instructions. |
Lapped boats may be finished having completed fewer laps and their time calculated from the average time of previously completed laps. |

Each boat skipper is entirely responsible for the safety of the boat and crew and nothing, whether in the sailing instructions or anywhere else reduces that responsibility.
Nothing done by the organiser can reduce the responsibility of the boat skipper, nor will it make the organiser responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, howsoever it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the race. The term "organiser" encompasses everyone helping to run the race and the event, and includes the organising authority, the race committee, the race officer and the committee boat crews.
Insurance
Each competing boat is required to hold adequate insurance and in particular to hold insurance against third party claims in the sum of at least £2,000,000
Presentations and results
Presentations will be immediately after the meal in the club house.
Results will be available to view after presentations and available on request by email.
